Imagine having the desire to start a modest collection, saving up, and buying an item only to discover that you've been had. It has happened to all of us, but at today's prices the sting will sour the new guys and drive them away. Ask yourself - what have you done to encourage new collectors? Have you tried to help any with initial purchases? Have you offered the benefit of your experience? Have you perhaps given a new collector an item which you could spare to fire up their interest?
