Hi guys,

My interests have been going more toward bayonets and fighting knives lately and I look forward to spending more time on the forum here, learning and contributing when I can. I've been a member of the "other" forum (Tim L.) for several years but I want to hang out with the bayo guys Smile

I have a few blades that I have questions about, starting with this one. It's a 1907 Wilkinson made in Feb. 1916. It has a 1915 dated RE (Remington?) scabbard. Is the scabbard appropriate or is it considered a mis-match? I know the US supplied equipment and I'm not sure what a Wilkinson blade from this period is supposed to have for a scabbard.

Secondly, what are the marks and does it look like this was still in service after the war? I know the arrow property mark and the "X" is a bend test and the crown over numbers and an E is an Enfield inspection mark, but what about the big "R" and some of the over-strikes in the center?

Thanks!
Tim
