Lots of symbolism on that piece. Knight, sword, snake, thorn bush, pedestal, etc. The knight appears to be presenting food or water to the snake. Symbolism is usually lost on me.

Thought, since it is a book plate is one name and date the artist and the other the bibliophile? Or, is the book about Clausen or does the plate mean it was his property?
