The Carl Eickhorn maker's mark above, referred to as the double oval trademark (# 39), on page 171 of "German Knife and Sword Makers, 1850-1945" by J. Anthony Carter and notes that the double oval trademark was introduced before the era of the Third Reich.
It notes that a similar mark, (# 36) is found on the May 1931 export catalogs. The # 39 Carl Eickhorn maker's mark is found on my Nr. 1456 presentation Hirschfanger dated March 7, 1931.
It is possible the Nr. 1456 Hirschfanger was ordered with this date on the presentation blade but made later.
Note that these marks have an X instead of the 2 stars.
