This style was in use from roughly 1870’s throughout the 3R. Typically associated with the later 1800’s, I purchased a similar piece with a shorter sawback blade and a double oval Eickhorn mark (model #435), identified as a variant Feuerwehr sidearm.
Would love to know its true purpose myself, I dig the distributor marked blade too.
