Thank you Dave. I love to trace if possible the history of pieces that I own. It brings them alive and give them a real anchor point in history.

Many years ago, I learned of one of these dated 1938 owned by a fellow in Germany. I contacted him and we exchanged correspondence. I knew of one dated 1937 that was featured in one of Rankin's book on Walther pistols. It showed up a decade or so later on Simpson Ltd's list, but I hemmed and hawed and lost it. Bang, several years later Legacy ends up with it and by the good graces of Tom Whiteman, I got it. With the proper research material in my library like the SA Jahrbuch and the earlier correspondence with the German collector, I was able to flesh the story out with the addition of the postcard and tinnie that I picked up over the years.
