Here is another sword with an interesting knot. This is a Bavarian Infantry Officer sword with an etched blade and a Mourning Portepee. These black Portepee were worn in mourning for a deceased soldier or family. These were private purchase knots made in the form of the standard sword knot but rendered in black and they were worn in the same manner as the black armband was worn. This one is made in the form of the standard silver and blue Bavarian Infantry Officer knot made without the wire hanger between the strap and the stem.
