It's missing a backpiece rivet or pin that holds it in place which could be a sign of somebody fooling around. Or possibly not, what it appears to be is an Officer's model saber for wearing while off duty that could have been worn by a senior/top grade NCO. And possibly purchased as a commemorative of his time in that regiment as he was finishing his time in the military. Best Regards, Fred
