The dagger look fine. Concerning the inscription: Inscriptions generally are a mine field. On the other hand there ARE period done inscriptions. The photographs are less detailed to see what really did go on. But what I can see in these pics it looks to me like there have been first other letters on the place of the two "D"s (the left one could have been an "l". the right one I cannot recognize), on the other hand it looks to me like a non german speaking person with no german grammar knowledge did the inscription.
It should also be checked if "Br." has been the correct abbrevation for "Brigade" at these times.
