IMO a very nice postwar Falconers knife ( Falknermesser) the notch on the ridge defines the end of the blunt ridge,
The Knife is held in the glove, when the Falcon lands with his pray the blunt ridge with not hurt the falcons claws, the false edge behind the ridge notch is used to kill the falcons pray when its brought back alive.

Here an example made early 1900
Clear to see the notches, theblunt ridge and the scharp false edge towards the tip behind the notches.
