I took another look at this based on a conversation I had with another member via e-mail.
The 'tru im tru' inscription is also not always accepted as a true period etching, I think.
It is interesting and cautioning that the maker mark seems to be unaffected by the rusting that is all around the mark. It looks to me like the mark was applied on top of the rust. How is that possible? Or is it a huge red flag?
Look for yourself.
