Cleaning a German dagger is not a good thing for future value, IMO. The etch on Navy daggers would be best just lightly wiped with something like semi-chrome and a very soft cloth, or some light oil. You should wait for as much input as you can get before doing much to it. Just keep thinking, LIGHTLY.
