The engraving is 100% original war time.The Coat of arms has also been traced to major-General Hans-Georg Schmidt.It is his family s coat of arms.He was also involved in the plot to kill Hitler.My father in law brought the dagger home from WW2 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Georg_Schmidt_von_Altenstadt
