I am sorry to rain on someone´s parade, but what I can see in these pics (which aren´t the best in detail) it looks to me like a non period inscription done by a person which is unexperienced in the german language which is typically for inscription fakes.
Just my opinion due to what I see.
The hewer itself looks to be a period one with a removed skinning knife pocket.
