Hi all, are there any clear pictures at all of a HR worn by an SS soldier?
Where one can see which way they wore them? :-)

I THINK they were supposed to be worn facing the wearer, so upside-down in a way. Elsewhere I read the skull was facing the wearer inwards, so it was on the palm side of the hand... though I kinda doubt that story...

My guess would be 'upside-down', so when you look at the back of your hand the Skull looks at YOU, not the other person.

And that was apparently because in a way it is a 'Memento Mori' ring: reminding of death, or in the case of the Ehrenring to remind of the readiness to sacrifice one's own life for the good of the cause...

Is that about right? :-o

I don't remember where, but I'm sure I read somewhere the Ehrenringe were supposed to be worn 'facing the wearer', and I would guess that many other TK rings were worn that way for that reason...
But that's just my guess, anyways... :-)

Maybe Gaspare and military Nut can shed some light on this.. Specifically: is there any documentation? Pics, documents, that speak of this?

Thanks,
Mark
