Thank you. Sorry for late reply but I have one more GOOD question. I saw a lot of short dress bayonets with not green-silver but regular EM troddel and I have one long blade dress bayo with NCO knot that was a direct purchase from the vet's family...So is the statement correct? Thaks Yes, the short bayonets were supposed to be for Officers and NCOs while the long blades were for EM. Since these were private purchase bayonets (Extra-Seitengewehre) the soldier could buy what they wanted. There was no real way to enforce rules for private purchase bayonets worn off-duty as walking-out dress.
