This is a picture of an etched KS98 Pack bayonet with an unusual knot variant attached to the frog. The bayonet etch is IMHO a generic Army etch, the knot appears to be for an NCO in the Polizei. The picture was saved from an old auction last year although the name of the company escapes me at this moment. I do know the auction was for the estate of retired Major General Theodore Paulson. Interestingly, this knot (& bayonet) also appear to be the exact items pictured on page 138 of "Tom Johnson's Edged Weapon Accouterments of Germany 1800-1945".
It's condition is not great & the strap definitely shows it's age. The bulb looks typical for the most part with its green & silver bullion cord however thesunusual feature is on the bulb. Instead of having 2 cords of silver followed by 1 green cord, the green cord is gilt.
My presumption is it was for some type of superior rank but it's just a guess. Never seen this combination before & wondered is anyone else had.
