After checking a lot of my photographs I have to say that you ARE RIGHT, a lot of rings is NOT identifyable. Also I cannot understand this. The pebbling of a button cann be seen clearly but a ring beneath this button canNOT be identified because blurry... But it is this way.
Another fact that you don�t see rings in a lot of pics is that due to regulations the men often wore gloves when taking official photographs.
Finally, if there are enough pics several rings can be seen and identified.
