Two new fobs to show you today:

Both were private purchase items with memorial pins for fighting in the regions shown. Iin the interval commemorated here, 1941-42, the Finns, supported by the Germans, Swedes, Norwegians and Danes, fought against the Russians. These items would have been purchased as mementos of the various campaigns by the troops.

The first one has the pin for Finland and the dates 1941 - 1942. It also has pins for Petsamo-Rovaniemi and for Petsamo-Salla-Rovaniemi... this last pin has a neat ski troop pictured.

The second fob has the Finland dated 1941-42 pin as well as pins for Linahamari and Kirkenes-Petsamo-Murmansk.

The Petsamo region was very important for the Germans since it prodcued nickle and iron. Murmansk in Russia was an objective for the Axis forces, one which they never did take, otherwise the Russian war could have gone very differently.
