UBB.threads Forums General Interest Restoration, Conservation, and Maintenance Forum Opinion needed on rust removal on SS Dagger

There is rust on the tang nut and a small amount of rust around the edges/rim of the corrosion spots on the back of the scabbard. The rust here is minimal but as you can see from the photos it is heavy on the tang nut. The dagger has not been cleaned before.

Is there a good way to clean the rust? Product to use...method..etc? Or is it best left alone?
