Semi chrome is a tricky cleaner to use. It is abrasive, so if you rub over the rust spot too much, it will remove the cross graining, and make a shiny spot around the rust spot. The spot where the rust was, will remain dark. It's almost better to try various methods on a beater, broken blade to see if you like the results. Otherwise, just stop the rust with an application of museum curator's wax.
