A translation of something like poetry or prose, is always difficult, but, something like;

"What do you you ask, comrades in death that rest down there:
what did it help, that you sacrificed all that blood?
Who can give you the answer, who tells of this suffering?
Bless you, that you are beaten
" (or maybe "bless you, the fallen"? Or whatever)

Its written by j. Mosen, in 1831, and its actualy a part of a bigger works, a song, "commercium", that is a song they used to sing at academic feasts (whatever those were?). The original song, is called "Die V�lkerschlacht bei Leipzig", and its about this. Find the whole song here.
