Regarding the top guard,i would guess,

Contingent association of the Dukedom Brunswick-L�neburg.
Founded 1.April 1809
Gerd It is properly read as "1. Oktober 1890 / 1 Eskadron, Braunschweig Husaren Regiment 17" and translated as "1. October 1890, 1 Schwadron of the Brunswick Husar Regiment No.17". The Eskadron was the smallest tactical unit of the Imperial German Army, of which there were five in each Husar Regiment. Husar Regiment Nr. 17 was located in Braunschweig and was a contingent of the 20th Division of the 10 Armee Korps. I will try to find some info on the SA unit on the lower guard.
