Considering where you are (S. Africa) and appearance of both bayonet and frog, it exhibits every indication of an original issued bayonet. I acquired a WKC39 S84/98 in a blue luftwaffe tropical frog from a seller in Australia a few years back. The scabbard still had sand residue inside it. Same deal as the Aussies fought in N. Africa & were later withdrawn to serve in the pacific.
