Hi Mike, thanks for your input. Yes the splotches are a sand sort of colour paint, much more of which remains on the the other side of the helmet. (there also seems to be a ghostly outline of another decal on that side-is that normal??does this make a difference ?????

What do the numbers mean? I guess from your earlier comment size is one thing, but can we learn anything else about this piece from them? maker for instance, or year of manufacture?
