I recieved this dagger from a P-38 pilot who was sent to Germany after the war to repatriate Luftwaffe pilots for the new German airforce. he spoke fluent German and worked with them for a year. While there, he was offered many personal items from these pilots like medals, daggers, guns, etc in exchange for food and ciggarettes. After a long Airforce career and a ten year stint as an Air America pilot in Vietnam, he retired. I met him before he died in 1996 and he gave me access to his large collection which I eventually recieved. One of these daggers was an SA dagger that looked almost new and had a phenolic resin handle instead of wood. he insisted it was genuine, albeit made after the war of original parts. I have had several people tell me that the parts, except the handle, are in fact original. I will post some better pics , but my question is...is this credible ?
