You liked my "sewer" story in the other thread, so you might like this one too!
Several years ago, I visited a WWII vet who wanted to show me his souveniers. Amongst several pistols, he had a beautiful Eickhorn Senior Forestry Official's Cutlass. He told me this was now a family heirloom because when he came home and married his girl, they cut the wedding cake with it. Over two decades later, the cutlass was used to cut his daughter's wedding cake. He then showed me pictures of the cake-cutting ceremonies. Pretty cool.... It's probably cut the wedding cakes of a few more generations by now.
At the time, I was more excited about the two dual-tone byf44 P.38's that he had taken from a crate in a bombed out train. They were consecutive serial numbers and never fired. Unfortunately, he wouldn't sell a thing. cry
