Thus, it would require three years to qualify for the highest award. "The award was rendered for excellence in shooting with the carbine,rifle,light MG and MG. Small arms qualifications consisted of a combined score with the rifle and MG,with minimum standards required at each grade.For example,awards 1-4 required that only four of six rifle rounds be in the bullseye at each of the three ranges,while 9-12 required five of six hits in the bullseye."
