A standard "long" blade police bayonet has a 17" blade, the cut down variety will show a 13" blade. Some bayonets will be found with the long blade intact but missing the clamshell while some may retain theclamshell and have the 13" blade. If that wasn't confusing enough, you will also find different length blades on the many private purchase bayonets out there. The 17" & 13" blade lengths refer to Preu�en Weimar bayonets that were for the most part issued pieces.
