A standard cut down variety blade is usually 13", I'm thinking your piece is within a quarter inch of that.

I've never seen a grip eagle set in like that. The ones I've seen are either set on top of the stag & flush with it. On some later war examples I've seen the stag gouged out roughly with the eagle set in the gouge. This one seems to be done early and cut out nicely. No red flags though. nice piece.
