I stumbled across a Third Reich fare gun with a proof I don't recognize.
As you hold the gun in your right hand pointing left it's marked ac and 1940. Has a 4 digit serial number and, as I recall, a small letter 'g' right after the serial nr.
The reverse of the pistol has several WA 359 proofs (for Walther). My question is about two proofs on this same side that look like the 'stick eagle' but where the swastika would ordinarily be there appears to be a small triangle with a letter 'L' inside. The eagles' wings are not parallel to the top of the weapon but are turned 90 degrees (the eagles' wings are NOT parallel to the bore - the eagles wings are perpendicular to the bore.) What is this proof? I DON'T think it's Police as I had one of these flare guns that was Police proofed and it did not resemble this proof and was on a different place on the gun.
