Now this 1962 Pontiac Catilina really grabbed me because I remember seeing this very car at the NHRA National Drags in 1962 - and also several times at the US131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan. It was the NHRA record holder for the Super Stock class.
This car was one of a very limited production made specifically for the drag strip. The option package was called "Super Duty".
Among its special features was a light-weight fiberglass front end. The standard 389 cu. in. high performance engine was rated at 348hp. This one was rated at 405hp.
To my 20 year old mind at the time, this was about a good as it gets!
