Milan,

Not from the Hunting Association but a high-level forestry rank.

Regards,

Bill

Although not "textbook" this high ranking Forestry knot could be proper for a hunting dagger or other dagger. The Forester could have also been a member of the Hunting Assn. and rather than wear the "just a member" knot of the Assn. he chose to wear his high rank knot. Understandable and quite proper. This dual and even triple and more membership aspect is often ignored or not known but explains why many non-textbook combinations are found. Many of these combinations have been "corrected" by collectors over the years-making the piece in question "correct" but yet "not correct" Frown Confused Wink

Houston, you are quite right on what you stated. Therefore I have written "normaly" and "should". There are many period mixed variants, sometimes even against regulation, but as hunters and foresters and marksmen were not under such strict control there was place enough to happen.
