Can you post a closer photo of the RZM label and the some of the sewing details--a seam, the buttons/buttonholes on the front, the underside of the visor? That would be helpful. Erich

Eric, I don't doubt the originality of the hat, I know the source very well and he is an old timer to the hobby, just not sure of the value, I know what normal sa kepis are valued at but have never tracked pricing on one like this before.

I agree, I don't see anything wrong with the cap itself. It's not possible to say when the officer cording was applied, but that doesn't affect the value very much. The Edelweiss on the collar tab on the side is not regulation and was not authorized. The only SA groups authorized to wear the Edelweiss on a patch were the Austrian groups using a pink or russet brown patch. The last SA officer field cap I bought was from a dealer and was $550.00. It is made from a higher grade SA twill, so was made as an officer's cap rather than an issued enlisted cap as this one was. I would say that this cap is worth around the same amount. It's got some benefits and some liabilities.

I'm curious to see what's under the blue Edelweiss patch. This cap looks 99% like one I had in my collection, from the label to the, slighlty loosened silver piping only...it had no patch.........

Hans, nice to see you here again! The hat in question came out of a collection in chicago awhile back.
