Gents,
I came across some fake police insignia that we might want to be aware of. The first is a set of fantasy Polizei Panzer collar tabs for a non-existent Schuma tank unit. No such tank unit existed so therefore no original collar tabs could exist. I wonder if they are still fakes if they never existed???

View of the backs of these collar tabs. I have no idea where some of this wacky stuff comes from.

And here for your enjoyment are a trio of fake sleeve eagles. At least these are represented as fakes.
Be careful out there!

ORPO: In your opinion are these new fakes or have they been out for awhile? IMO: With the new found interest in the police we will have to brace ourselves for more of this. Jim

Jim,
I agree with you. I think we will see more and better fakes in the future with the publication of the Angolia-Taylor "German Police" books. I guess it is inevitable.
The Schuma Pz.Pol. tabs are something that seems to be new. They have faked the cap insignia for some time, so I guess the crooks simply adapted to make something completely off the wall to try to sucker in some collectors. The embroidered eagle seems to be recent as well as I have seen several of them (with different backing) lately. The embroidered colored eagles have been around for a while. They are pretty distinctive with their open wreaths and turned up wing tips.

ORPO and Jim, I posted photos of a pair of Schuma tabs exactly like the ones shown, on this site, 18 April 2005. At that time no one knew what they were, except that the insignia sewn to the tab appeared to be that generally sewn to a cap. So we can assume that these have been around for a bit more than a year. Bob,
Thanks for the info. I did not remember seeing these tabs before. Hopefully, no one falls for these silly things.

The same person is selling a whole series of such tabs for Eastern volunteers ie. Georgian, Turkista and even Bergkaukasian. Whats more, now they started faking the Ost boards to match the fantazy collar tabs!
