I got this eagle last month . It has a copper base which is silvered on the front and atop that is a frosted silver finish !. The swastika shows the polished silver . It is a 2 piece construction .

This first Police eagle is Type 1 of solid nickel and a variation seldom seen (except on this thread)! This nickel baby weighs a whopping 15 grams and the eagle / swastika is as thick as 2 silver dollars!

Next is, what I feel is, an early version of the 2nd pattern. Unbelievable detail to the wreath / eagle, 3 piece construction - ( eagle, prongs and wreath all separately attached), with a weight of 10 grams. (The ‘usual’ ones like this that we always see in this 2nd pattern are mostly 1 piece construction and weight 3-4 grams.) Love those Police Eagles. Dave dblmed

Nice 2nd pattern with the solid eagle. What is unique about this example is the solid eagle as 2 piece examples of stamped construction are frequently seen.
Below is another sigle piece high relief or thick -

Dave I agree with Bill. It's bad enough to shame us with the individual photos of those outstanding pieces in your collection.... But this artistic stuff is just rubbing salt in it !!!! But damn you have some fine pieces !!!! Andrew

Thanks for the great comments! The pictures are my attempt to utilize my collection a little better when time & lighting permits. Also, I was really bored with my white background and I have to admit these pieces really add flavor to each other! Next, I’ll have to try something new for the more typically encountered thin examples of the 2 pattern.

Excellent examples everyone !
here's my addition to this topic.
It is a bullion 3 feathered cap eagle for a Wasserschutzpolizei NCO. It is smaller than the Officers variants and roughly the same size as the metal cap-eagles. Regulations state that NCO's had to wear metal eagles but as this example demonstrates those regulations were not allways followed.
