Hi Guys!
A friend has this old rifle. She thinks that her Dad brought it back from Europe after WWII. He was an Army Officer, and had this on his wall with the bayonet attached for 50 years. He had drilled two holes in it, and nailed it to the wall! I don'y know what country it's from or what model it is or what era it's from. My guess is German, late 19th Century. Can anyone help me and tell me what it is and an approx. value?

Thanks,
Chief

It is VERY dirty and rusty. The bolt is very difficult to move (The first thing that I did was to make sure that it was not loaded!). I assume that the crowns mean Imperial, and the 1874 on the stock is either the model or the year produced, but I really don'y know. What do you guys think?

Thanks for your help.

I think it's a Dutch Beaumont modified to take the Vitali box magazine. This was done starting in 1888. That's my shot at it, no pun intended.

I've seen nice ones sell in the $250.00 range. With the rust and holes drilled in the stock, this one would sell considerably less.

Thanks.
So would $100.00 be reasonable if she wanted to sell it?

With the bayonet included, it should be worth that to someone needing parts or as a wall hanger.
