To much money on daggers, and none on cameras, eh? Looks like a honey, and nice shot of the numbers on the crossguard. Where did you find it?

You're right. Way too much money on these daggers and nothing left over for extras like proper photography gear. But, what the heck, I want to hold these things not take their pictures.
Any watchouts on what little you see?
John

As far as the photos go, try and take some outside or inside but at least under natural light. Take some photos square on to the motto and the inscription, as well as showing it down the length of the blade.
What number is on it? Maybe one of us can find out some information.

Hi All:
The number on the dagger is 3681, who happens to be Gerhard Feldmann. His last posting was as Ostuf (Obertsturmfuhrer?) Chef, 1./Pi. Btl. (Pionier Battalion?) in the 4 SS Polizei Grenadier Division. He fell in action in September of 1944.
I received a 50+ page work up on him from Mr McDevit(sp?) and am slowly poring through it. Unfortunately, my high school German only extends as far as 'Ein Bier, Bitte' and 'Ganz Gut', so it's slow slogging.
There is a great Norwegian web site devoted to the SS and it has helped me big time.
Thank you Paul Hogle for helping me find this dagger and for pointing me in the right direction to start my research.
I will keep you informed of my slow progress on identifying who and where this gentleman came from.

Thanks Ryan:
I will be trying some outside shots, but it is snowing here in Calgary. The weather witch doctors do predict a nice day on Sunday, though. Maybe I'll do better then.
