Opinions on this 15 year nsdap long service medal would be appreciated. I have noticed that above the fur some medals have one dot above the u and some have 2 dots! Is this correct for different makers Cecked the ribbon with a blacklight and does not glow.

I would pass based on the photos. The enamel looks too dark and the silver on real ones is quite glittery - not easily tarnished. I've never seen veins on the wreath leaves shown on the front here.

I mentioned in another thread that the smaller rays have very pointy ends in originals while fakes tend to have blunt ends. These ones look too blunt.

Cheers,

Stephen

This to me looks like a good copy from the 70's. They were highly reproduced back then.

Rod, I take it you plan to keep it.
Here are some comparison images of mine darkened down.

I agree with Ed - 1970s copy. The oakleaf wreath should have fairly smooth leaves with a single raised centre spine. Yours has extra veins.

First, here's mine (a little overexposed).

Here's a blow up of your leaves (bottom right corner) showing the extra veins.

Thanks for the pictures Joe and Stephen. I see what you mean about the extra veins Stephen. At least showing a replica might help other collectors what to look for?

And the box, which would make most buyers think this is the real deal, but look more closely...

R2M??

The fakers can't read and have mistaken the Z in the RZM logo for a number "2". Boneheads.

Not only that but the RZM logo doesn't have the circle touching the bottom legs of the M with a gap in between.

All in all, the medal looks pretty good, although the eagle's shoulders are too high and the rays between the cross arms aren't quite right.

Still, could easily fool most collectors.

These are pretty easy to tell that they are fake. Here's my Juncker example.
