Hello,

Here are a pair of AACHEN eagles of a rather ugly pattern that I believe to be specific to a manufacturer in that town. The patterns are identical, the writing is identical, and the name is located high on the oval. Obviously both of these were made by the same individual.

Both of these show considerable wear and use. Both are UV dead and appear to be authentic. I have NOT seen this pattern before.

If anyone has a similar eagle please share, particularly if it is named to a different city or jurisdiction.

Regards,
Bill Unland

Hello,

Actually, AACHEN was a large police district office. It had offices of almost all of the various police branches including the Gendarmerie, Wasserschutzpolizei, and Feuerschutzpolizei, in addition to the Schutzpolizei.

The Gendarmerie were responsible for policing the rural areas of the "county", for lack of a better translation, of AACHEN whereas the schutzpolizei would have been the police in the city itself.

As a large police center I am sure many different manufacturers made insignia for use there. Your eagle is a different pattern than those I show.

What I am really looking for is any use of the same pattern eagle as mine, as I suspect it was made by a local company and used only in AACHEN whereas your eagle is well known, with use all over Germany suggesting a large manufacturer.

Thanks for posting,
Regards,
W.Unland
