Hi,
I've noticed some of my posts disappear sometimes. Seems to be ones i put in the For Sale section. One i listed had some ebay auctions i was running, this i can understand as listing auctions may be against the rules. However i also listed a sword earlier today, with around 9 pictures, and now thats gone.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Lewis

Yes, Vern and I have some very definite ideas on this.

No post should vanish without a note being left by the administrator or moderator who made it happen as to WHY it went away.

The most common reasons that posts or threads are moved is:

- Sales or wanted ads by folks who do not have a premium membership.

- Wrong Forum. Sometimes guys post stuff in the wrong forum and it gets moved. Bernie "Da Hammer" is pretty stict with the SS dagger Forum!

- Profanity / Insults / adult pictures.

Anyway, if something vanishes without an explanation, I would appreciate an email and I assure you it will be answered.

Most of this is "For Sales" ads that do not follow the rules.

They need to have the sellers email address IN THE AD and the ad needs to state an asking price as well as saying whether postage / insurance is included.

Our fantastic Moderators will add the person's email address as a courtesy the first time it is left off - and send a reminder tro the member - but after the first time, ads that do not comply are deleted.

That is exactly what has occurred. A warning email was sent, ads were edited to include the email address, when it reoccurred, the next ad was deleted. This process was clearly described in the warning email as to what would occur in the future.
Yes the auction links were a clear violation of these forum's guidelines therefore they were deleted.

How can someone delete their own thread, ie pictures or a second thought thread. I've made plenty of mistakes were I uploaded the wrong picture and tried to delete it but it was denied for lack of priviledge. Is it only moderators and certain members that can delete? What do I have to do to get this priviledge concerning my own thread mistakes? Thanks Much.

Mike,

It is only Forum Moderators plus myself and Vern who can delete posts or threads. No other "certain members" have this ability.

You can delete any incorrect image or change wording in any post you make for 45 minutes after you post. You cannot delete it, but you can remove all that you posted ... which has the same result.

Hi Dave ,I have noticed that someone is deleting some of my posts.one that I can remember was 2 photos of Karl Bocker maker mark on my dagger to compare with the position of the maker mark on Roy's blade that I had posted on the Rohm forum in April 2005 regards Stan

Nats,

I cannot look back that far so I cannot tell you what happened. I check our site log reasonably often and look for anomalities, but I must have missed that one.

Dave,
Thanks for the quick response and many thanks for all your hard work and patience. It's greatly appreciated by this die hard GDC fan.
