One of my favorite uniform accessories, the police belt buckle for other ranks! Sorry to those that might find this dull, although I'm missing the old thread after it vaporized into the unknown so I have to start this topic again! Especially due to continued hunting and adding new makers to the collection! Hope you enjoy and please add what you have!

First up is an overview and I'll continue to add detailed pictures when time permits.

One of the more commonly found makers, although a mint example by Christian Theodor Dicke of Lüdenscheid (C.T.D.):

Dave,

Nice mountain-o-buckles!

How about a couple of Prussian:

And my only gold buckle:

Interestingly marked "OTC" in a diamond, but the letters are backwards as of the guy who made the stamping die forgot that it would be reversed in the final stamping. Have no idea if this is common.

Regards,
Bill Unland

Bill, those Prussian examples are very nice! By chance are there any markings on the reverse? I must find me one of those and soon!!!

That Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid, is also a choice example! Here is my only Overhoff example:

Dave,

AHHH, not a "T", a symbol for "and". I get it.

No marks on the Prussians.

Here is a 1936 dated RS&S Gendarmerie.

Just to add some basic info about the German phrase "Gott mit uns" :-

"Gott mit uns (meaning God With Us) was a phrase most known as the motto of the royal house of Prussia, and formed part of the military emblem of Prussia and later Germany.

The phrase was also used as battle cry in the Thirty Years' War and was one of the three official mottoes by Gustavus Adolphus. Note the reference to Nobiscum Deus (Latin, "God with us"), used by Romans and East-Romans as a battle cry.

During World War II, Wehrmacht soldiers wore this slogan on their belt buckles, as opposed to members of the Waffen SS, who wore the motto Meine Ehre heißt Treue ("My honor is loyalty")." - Wikipedia.

Cheers,
Ibrahim.

Looking for all relevant info & items on the WW2 German U-boats in Singapore and Asia for my research.
