I've not seen anything quite like it before, the etch pattern resembles something from the 3rd Reich period, it's hard to tie down just one maker with this etch.
I've seen that style crossguard on earlier Eickhorn products, perhaps Ralph might be able to help with this crossguard and hilt.
The grip is unusual on a hirschfnger, there are known forestry pieces with orange grips but they are not like that at all.
The clamshell is interesting and we would need a good crisp close up picture, is there a coat of arms on it, it certainly looks like there may be.
Is there a makers mark on it, are the fittings heavy or lightweight, how long is the blade, whats up with the leather on the scabbard, it has a strange look. Perhaps a close up of the pommel as well would help, certainly we need better pictures if you can manage them. The shape of the scabard mounts I do not recognise, the colouring of all the fittings seem different to anything I have seen before.
An interesting piece but hard to say anything from these pictures.

Cheers

Gary

With that etch pattern it would have to come from Germany though I an loathe to say anything about when it was made before I can see more pictures. It's an unuasual piece that may or may not be correct to a period pre 1945.

Well that mark tells us a lot, certainly post war for sure. We can also see that the fittings lack a lot of detail and clarity.
Looking at that washer I should think this piece was made within the last few years, there are many Horsters on the market with this mark. Unless it was marketed as a WWII piece then it is what it is a post war/modern hunting hirschfnger.

Cheers

Gary
