Just an observation I have not seen many Full Rohms out on the market for the past several years. (not counting the fakes Mad ) It seems VERY hard to find a minty one! What are minty examples even going for now days??????

Eric, I think that they're around but they are mostly pre-sold.
What I mean is, most people who wants those, have already contacted a particular dealer that they trust and do get them "under the table". Wink

I know of two dealers that have sold two full Rohm just 1 month ago. These were never offered to the public as they already had customers eagerly waiting for them. Wink

If you want one, you'll get one.

Makes sense, but what condition are they. Most I have seen are beaters.

I don't think that anyone will see the really good ones except the interested buyer who the seller feels will conclude the transaction. I had one for sale and pulled it after it drew no buyers in about six months...that was two years ago. I still have it and I honestly don't think I could replace it if I did sell it.

I also agree that almost all the really rare and good items are offered to a waiting few before the public even sees them, IF they ever do at all.

And with only 14 identified SS Full-Rohm's that I have documented so far, the demand evidently still exceeds the supply. But the economy and Wall Street bailouts might be a game changer for some.

I would guess a super one would be $6500.

One of them was sold for about $ 6000 and was in an E++ condition and the other one was near mint/mint and went for $ 8000. Cool

Pat:

I remember that last year about this time, a lot of people were amazed at the $8,000 or so that Ruptured Duck was asking for an NM/M Full Rohm. Bill actually called it 'museum grade' (is that as good as or better than NM?). I asked to see it while I was at the MAX, but Bill hadn't brought it with him.

But, it did sell shortly after the MAX. Maybe not for the full asking price, but I am sure that it went for a lot.

They are so rare, that I would expect the prices to only go up, no matter what the economy is.

At the Max Friday and I observed two full SA Roehms. Both mint and both had a tag on them for $8500. Perhaps a few more around I missed or "under the table" jobs.
Bought one of the two, and paid 8k from Wittmann. Absolutely stunning, Tom remarked it was the finest full SA Roehm he has ever had. Fully burnished including the maker! If you asked me a year ago if I would pay 8k for a full SA Roehm my remark would have been, "Are you nuts?"
Curiously, no buyers remorse here.

I still remember well over 8 years ago when Wolfe-Hardin had the $6000 mint chained SS dagger. Everyone including yours truly had to rush over to their tables in order to view this "absurdly" priced bird.Chained SS at the times were priced at $3500 to $4500 tops! Well it was a stunning piece and I wish that I had bought it....... cheers, Ryan

How true, any minty item will ALWAYS be in high demand. However at the time is just seems like a ton of $ to spend!
