Gentlemen,
Recently found this Pack with spanner rivets. I wonder if this type of knife is considered to be rare? Anyway it was the first one that I have found in decent shape, often they look like the spanners have been turned a thousand times. I like the special grip plates (extra large texture) and the unique blade shape (ricasso area) of these knifes. The scabbard is annodised with brown leather.
Any comments are more than welcome.
Best greetings,
Herman

Interesting that the pommels differ between the two. The second being more of a birds head or dress bayo style although both knives seem to be of same vintage. Anyone have a theory?

Early HJ Knives by Pack are of a wide variety. Mine (in my book "NPEA Daggers and Associated Knives") is much like this one, except it has an eye in the pommel to represent an eagle's eye. The circle is abour the size of a dime and deep. The TM is exactly like this one and my scabbard is blued. A couple of years ago at a MAX Show in Pittsburgh I saw one of these in near mint condition, so they are out there. This makes three different early Pack patterns, so there was no standardization early on. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria PS: In Johnson's newest 4 vol. set of books from Sheiffer on daggers, there is one of these early Pack HJs in wear that is a great shot where you can see the eagle type hilt.

Dave, Ed, Barry and Ron,
Thank you for your valuable comments on this piece.
Ed, It looks that the scabbards of both our knifes are about the same: dark brown leather with the same snap buttons. But yours looks painted on that picture, is that correct?
Best greetings,
Herman
