Gentlemen,

Another one from the SOS: black plastic strap, not supple (due to age?). The knife is made by the common RZM7 7/13 Arthur Schüttelhôfer.

Is this correct?
Any opinions are appreciated.

Greetings,

Herman

Very nice blade! I have seen this before, I think they are late pieces but they are known to be original. Lets see what Russ has to say, I'm not sure if it's one maker or a few that did this.

correct and period. You can find the plastic strap on any late RZM maker you run across but I have found most to be on 13's and 66's. Then again I have found more late 13s and 66s than any other RZM number so there you go. Just my experience though. I have seen the scabbards alone go for up to $175 without a knife! Nice artifct. Mark, Fritzii,

Thank you for your valuable remarks.

Russ,

Always a pleasure to get your "blessing" on an HJ knife & thanks a lot for the information.

Best greetings,

Herman

WKC also used the plastic strap at the end. DO NOT EVER LET ANYONE SNAP THE BUTTON AS THESE STRAPS BECOME BRITTLE AND WILL SNAP.
I have seen late war WKC RLB Jrs. with a plastic hanger strap also.
You can find late war Army Officer Sword Knots with a plastic strap also. I have had a few over the years, but these break more easily than the dagger straps due to length.
