Can anyone give me an opinion of this WH sidecap which is offered at the militaria dealersite of mr. Helmut Weitze ?

Is it a regular issued sidecap ?

I never seen such a type before with that pointed flaps at the sides (no ventilation holes).
I think the eagle and cocarde are original stitched at the cap.

I'm curious for your opinions.

Based on the pics I would pass on it. These caps are not that rare and more text book examples are usually available from time to time from various dealers/collectors.

Hi Glenn,

You would pass on it because you're doubting about if its original or regular issued ??
(are these types regular issued or is there a chance it is a cap from ,a by the Germans, conquered country (Tjech ?); I really don't know.)

I never saw one before like this and I'm just looking for a early dated WH schiffchen ( size 58) to complete my mannequin. Not particularly searching like this one but this one acrossed my way.
The only one I saw like this example is in the book of Cardone/Sanchez (germ. uniforms and equipment)
Send a pic with it.

Thanks a lot.

What I am saying is that because this cap is out of the ordinary you would always have to explain it.

You are much better off with a issue cap (which this is not) that is a one looker rather than try to explain a cap that may or may not be original war time manufacture.

Better safe than sorry Wink

Hi Glenn,

I think you're having a point on this one.

Maybe this cap is original but I'm thinking also by myself to obtain a regular issued fieldcap without questions amongs it.

Thanks for your reply.

Thijs
