After some hard negotiations I finally got 9 albums with 1304 photos of a member of the Hitlerjugend.

Before I post some photos here, I would like to tell a bit of the story.

The albums come from another collector. He has got them from the family of Achim von Tippelskirch.
Now Achim von Tippelskirch was the nephew of Kurt von Tippelskirch. General and Oak-Leaf Winner.

His father ( the brother of Kurt v.T.) was an airforce general.
I would like to find out a bit more about the Tippelskirch family.
Some more information about the airforce general.

Kurt von Tippelskirch survived the war and wrote a book about the 2nd WW in the 50ties.

But I have not much information about his brother and the rest of the family.

These 9 albums have some outstanding photos. They start about 1934 with early HJ pictures. The majority of the photos is between 1936 and 1938. Many HJ-camps, travels in germany and italy. Normal duty and so on. They end in 1941, when Achim v.T. was a Leutnant in the artillery branch and was in russia.

1.) Young Achim v.T. sitting on the shoulders of a younger comrad.

2.) Some early HJ-Leaders

3.) Leader of a HJ-school, name was HALLER

4.) HJ-Bannführer ULRICH (in the car) and HALLER again far right

5.) Some Jungvolk leaders

6.) All these boys were from Gruppe Süd-Hochland ( this one is holding a snake in his hand)

7.) Another HJ-Leader on the left, ID possible ???

8.) And yet another photo of the leader in photo 7. Note that he is a winner of the blood-order !
The SA-Sturmbannführer in the middle has the blood-order too. I will come back to this guy later.

9.) And yet another photo of this "swearing the oath" ceremony

10.) Jungvolk boys having fun

11.) That's what they did with their knives:

12.) There are lots of photos like the next one:

13.) And also a lot of photos like this one:

14.) Being on a bicycle tour and inspected by the police:

15.) Visiting army barracks

16.) One series with these kind of photos is quite impressive:

17.) Some more, these are "cool"

18.) Great shots

19.) Can't get enough of them

20.) One more...

21.) Munich in front of the Feldherrnhalle

22.) Can not read what's on the flag..

23.) Photos from the HJ-homes

24.) That one was in munich in the Hess-Street. Still have to find out which street that is today.

25.) Recruiting new boys

26.) A small series of these photos, but it is Achim v.T. who is enlisting the new boys

27.) This series has these stamps on the back

28.) Travelling around

29.) The quality of the most photos is extraordinary

30.) Another one

31.) A journey to italy

32.) In Verona, seems they had some other uniforms for going outside the country ??

33.) Riva at the Gardasee

34.) Office of the Bann

35.) Another HJ-leader - E. KLEIN

36.) Packing the tent-role on the tornister

37.) Visiting army barracks again

38.) Pages in the albums look like these:

Now it's time to come back to Achim v.T. again.

39.) A nice portrait ( one of a series )

40.) Together with his father, the airforce general

41.) In some army barracks, note the wounded HJ-boy at the left

42.) As said before, he was in the army in 1939, here in poland

43.) In France with his father, already an NCO rank

44.) His parents

45.) In poland with his father, the description in the album tells us, that this was his father's airplane and he took the opportunity to take a flight over Warszaw. It is a french Caudron 440.

47.) His father again, together with a hungarian officer

48.) Last photo shows Achim as a Leutnant

Now You have seen 48 photos out of 1304.
Maybe You can imagine the quality of this lot.
Personally I think it is the best photographic material that I have ever seen from the HJ.
At least it is for me.

Maybe somebody can help me out with some more infos about this family.

Kind regards
Robert

Robert, congrats on a fine acquisition - the photos you have shown are stunning and make fantastic uniform studies. It must have been a thrill to uncover such treasures and secure the deal which will no doubt become a great research project.

I like the HJ knife action - no wonder it's hard to find some good ones!

Thanks for showing these!

Russell

Well done Robert. I was wondering why we hadn't seen more posting from you lately.
I was lucky enough to find two photo albums from NPEA students in the past year to help with my NPEA Dagger book update. It seems that HJ photograph albums give the best source for period photos that are significant in doing research and help with material.

Again thanks for sharing!

It does give a better visual idea of the real
times and history.

Brings it to life the HJ, and the knives in tree
really show what boys would do!

Robert, fantastic showing. Smile The images are so clear the damaged handle on one of the HJ knives can be seen. I also noted the fold and the stitching to one of the cloth emblems.
In picture 31 there is a pin or tinnie above a pocket, any ideas what it might be?

Thanks for showing so many interesting photos. so much to see on them.

Regards,--dj--Joe

Incredible, treasure trove! The HJ leader with the leather breeches towards the beginning was quite something...also the HJ knife shots. Thanks for sharing these.

Unglaublich! That is the best grouping of HJ related shots that I've ever seen! Absolutely top!
Do you have a special setup for taking photos of photos, Robert? The images you post are always extremely clear and focused--do you use a special apparatus, or do you just have a very steady hand?
Thanks!
Erich

Erich,
it's not a kind of magic, it's just a very good Canon scanner. The photo of the complete page was made with my Canon EOS 350 D, I love this digital SLR camera.
But all other pics are scanned at the resolution of 600 dpi and re-sized to fit the screen resolutions.

Thanks for all the nice words. These albums are really a superb group and excellent quality. I will get more loose photos from that lot in the near future. The seller simply has forgotten them at home, but they are already paid. Hope to get them soon.

Kind regards
Robert

Fantastic Fotos ! Thanks.
I like the daggers in the tree - and we always thought the G. I. s mucked the blades up !
And rising through the ranks to LT with only an HJ decoration on your tunic - General father must have helped a bit...

As I said before - there were some lose photos missing in the deal. I got them now.
I didn't expect that they are 600 more !!

These lose photos came in old boxes for photo papers and some are double, already in the albums, however some are new too.

I continue with a selection of the second part of this awesome deal.

In the meantime I found out the name of the Hj-Gebietsführer. It was Emil Klein, district leader of the HJ-Gebiet Hochland.

Here he is again

49.)

Detail:

50.)

I think it's Klein on the left. Who is the SA-leader ?

51.)

And again, some HJ-leaders, I think Klein is the one waering a rain-coat.

Detail:

52.)

Baldur von Schirach and ???

53.)

Roll-call

54.)

Another flag photo

55.)

A drummer

56.)

Corner in a Jungvolk home

57.)

Rally at night

58.)

Unknown ceremony or meeting

59.)

Another photo of the meeting at the munich Feldherrnhalle

60.)

Jungvolk watching Heeres-Soldiers doing an exercise

Now - something very special.

61.)

This young lady is wearing a costume for the olympic games

62.)

63.)

I have an idea that this could be the official dress for the maids at the opening parade of the olympic games in 1936 in Berlin. Still have to check that with some other photos.

64.)

Same girl as above, but in the BDM sports dress

65.)

Doing some christmas works - note the tree

66.)

A recreation home of the Hitleryouth

67.)

Drummers again

68.)

Having the meals at a camp

69.)

Flags at a camp

70.)

Getting a ride with the NSKK

71.)

72.)

Planning a march

73.)

Reading the news

74.)

A typical scene of a celebration

75.)

A HJ-meeting in Kiel in nothern-germany, these are from the Navy-HJ

76.)

Some well-known faces

77.)

Who is left ??

78.)

Who is who ?

79.)

Jungvolk boys

80.) + 81.)

Fanfares

82.)

A self-made knot

83.)

Entertainment

Several photos have stamps on the back like these

84.) - 86.)

That's all for now.

Almost 2000 photos - the majority of them in excellent quality.

Enjoy them as I do.

Absolutely stunning images, Robert. Many thanks for sharing them with us. The fellow with von Schirach in your picture #52 appears to be Dr. Robert Ley.

Cheers,

Always a treat to see your images, Robert - and this is an especially great one. A lot of "eye candy" here to take in! As always thanks for your kindness in loading fine pictures on to G'Daggs.

Agree with others: it's Ley with B v. S.

Robert, this is the best picture series of the HJ that I have seen. I brings back memories as I was a member of the Jungvolk (Gau Suedfranken) from 1943 - 1945. Joe asked what the pin above the pocket in picture 31 is. It is the Jungvolk "Leistungsabzeichen". It is a medal that was awarded for excellence in various sports disciplines, such as running, jumping, swimming, pole jumping, discus throwing, etc. The badge has the swastika in the middle that is surrounded by the words "Fuer Leistungen im DJ" (For performance in the German Jungvolk).

About the Luftwaffe General ...

Ulrich von Tippelskirch, born 3 October 1883 in Bretleben/Kreis Eckartsberga and died 31 December 1967 in Steinebach/Woerthsee.

Apparently, he was in the Navy during the first war but was Luftwaffe from 1936 on. He was promoted to Generalleutnant on 1 April 1943.

Toward the end of the war, he was mostly in quartermaster duty but his last assignment was on the Staff of Luftgau-Kommandos XXV. He was assigned to the Fuhrerreserve OKL from 18 June 1943.

Great Photos:

#50 shows an NSFK Gruppenfuhrer and not an SA Gruppenfuhrer --still not sure who he is though.

#70 -- I know this sounds stupid but is there any more of this photo to the left on Goebbels side?? There is a PL on the very end that I would love to see if the end extends farther. You can just see him on the edge.

Thanks.
