Hello,
I have this early WMW dagger. I had a little time and made some closeups, because I found interesting the colour of the crossguard.
The lacquer turned into golden yellow, and somewhere into green.
Tha dagger has tapered tang, the TM is WMW stamped across the blade. The crossguard is Pack.
What do you think?

Nice looking dagger. Interesting I don't think I ever seen the WMW makers mark that way and so near the crossguard.

Unusual to see this mark on an early Max Weyersburg piece, normally you would find the double oval TM on a dagger with a tapered tang. Saying that due to the positioning of the trademark I would guess that this is one of the first daggers that utilised the new TM, as all the fittings are correct for a WMW. I am not sure the scabbard belongs with this dagger.
I love to see these early brass based daggers and not an easy maker to find.

The most logical scabbard screw position for this dagger would be the double side screws (Pack) this is what you normally would see on the early daggers with the small cottage maker marks. It is possible that the dagger is a transitional piece as the manufactures moved away from the slant grips and tapered tang. Being the blade is a tapered tang with a later mark no slant grip and the scabbard screw placement seems to add up to transitional? I would expect the finish to match through-out the dagger and am not sure that it does.
