Very occasionally it can be found without the "2" on the reverse. However characteristics on the obverse show that it's from the same maker.

Joe,
They didn't use an eagle on the collar tabs, just a plain cross.
Here are a couple of snaps from my collection. This first one is a crop from a family group shot.
Cheers Don

Finally another crop from a group shot showing two officers. This iamge is interesting as it shows uniforms from the Weimar period as well, must have been taken during that transitional period

Don, thanks, good pics. In the group pic. can you make out what the Officer on the left, facing, is wearing on his collar tabs? My knowledge on Red Cross rank insignia is sorely lacking.
--dj--Joe
Don's response, Aesculap insignia. Thanks Don.

M.E.E., very nice items also. Should you get the time a close up of the button hole devise would be appreciated. --dj--Joe

I was lucky with this little guy, didn't even know I had bought it until I got home (it was in a box of other military items).

Dusting this topic off for another go around. It was buried on page 25.

Don, if you would please add your example of the DRK brooch that was given out to the ladies who attended the 1939 ball in Vienna here for posterity.
Thanks, Joe

Sorry Joe, I didn't realised that I hadn't already done so.... Here it is & to recap this little DRK brooch was given out to the ladies who attended the 1939 ball in Vienna. Apparently in Austria it is a tradition to this day to give ladies who attend balls a small gift. This is only the third one of these that I have seen, so I assume not many have survived.

Would anyone have something related to share? Awards, cloth, documents, period images.

Another member of staff also with helferin brooch, but this time with a Fauenschaft badge & a Kriegsverdienstmedaille ribbon & what looks to me to be one of the NSDAP long service medals ribbon bars?...

Great images Don. That last one is really sharp and distinct. The Helfrin clasp is indeed a rare piece. The first staff member appears to be wearing a Red Cross or Social Welfare ribbon in a bow. The small ribbon in the last picture is for the 1936 Olympic decoration. Most likely the commemorative medal since no eagle devise.
